Chairman’s Message.

“Nichay kar apne Jeet Karo”
I welcome you to our Website. Our motto “Nichay kar apne Jeet Karo”, summaries, very well, our devotion, dedication and determination towards our goal of “Education for All”. The motto has motivated thousands of students over the years, to achieve great heights under heavy constraints.

The school was founded as a co-education primary school in 1908 at Chakwal District Jehlum, now in Pakistan. In 1916 it became a full-fledged High School. Its building was majestic and it had its own boarding house with more than 250 boarders.

After independence and the partition of India in 1947, a good number of patrons of the school settled in Delhi and with the efforts of Late S. Harbans Singh Sistani (Founder Chairman), the school was re-established at the present site in 1954. It was raised to the Higher Secondary school level in 1959. At present it is one of the premier educational institutions in Delhi. It caters to more than 1200 students, both Boys & Girls up to the Senior Secondary level. The school is aided by Government of Delhi.

The School follows the Senior Secondary system of education as prescribed by the C.B.S.E. and its students take the Class X and Class XII examinations conducted by the C.B.S.E. Besides formal education, the School inculcates civic and moral values amongst the children to make them model citizens of India. Sports, extra-curricular activities and character building are given great importance. In an era where mutual understanding and giving way to others is rare, we must groom children of today to be ambitious, to give them the ability to reason with others, to put across their own point of view calmly and at the same time show empathy to others and the ability to listen to and appreciate the point of view of others, while being steadfast in their own principles. AND above all, respect for teachers.

Education, according to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, is acquiring of knowledge beyond what is academic and professional. He felt that education should be neither bookish learning nor memorizing of facts and figure, stuffing the mind with information unrelated to life. Education, according to him, is the assimilation of values and ideas for character building and preparing to face life’s challenges. Rabindranath Tagore’s idea of education was to teach children cleanness, tolerance, civic sense and regard for fellow citizens irrespective of class, religion, caste or creed.

The Managing Committee of the Society lays down policy matters and the day to day matters of the School are left to the Principal with no interference. The endeavor of the School’s Managing Committee has always been to curb wasteful expenditure and to channelize all resources towards providing better facilities for the students.

Best Wishes
